It was founded in the Netherlands in 1932, by Adriaan van Well, and now consists of more than 13,500 stores in 48 countries. The company’s name is an acronym of the slogan “Door Eendrachtig Samenwerken Profiteren Allen Regelmatig”, which was used by van Well to describe the brand and translates as “All benefit regularly by co-operating harmoniously”.
